So its clear I’m not consistent with my week notes content structure. As looking back on my posts so far each one has a slightly different format. I need some guidance from our content designer other Rachel.

It’s probably quite reflective of how varied my weeks and work have been recently.

So what have I been up to since the last week notes instalment.

I achieved a very special mission patch

Before I moved to Co-Op, when I was at Reason Digital I had the privilege of working with The Scout Association. After the successful launch of their new beta website I was awarded the highest level digital maker badge to recognise my role in helping with the delivery of the website as the SCRUM master.

Built a home study space

To help create a dedicated area to do my studies I assembled flat pack furniture ( Oh the joy) but now have a lovely little space to work from. Just need to add some inspirational quotes to the wall for motivation!

First MBA assignment submitted

No wonder I’ve been quiet on the week notes front as I spent the last few weeks stressing, researching, planning, writing my first 3,000 word report. It was a very good exercise in the power of a deadline to force you into action mode rather than procrastination mode. I get the results in a few weeks so have to remind myself it’s a learning process and not about perfect academic distinction level material ( though of course that’s my benchmark).

I’ve now moved onto accountancy and finance which is really interesting and one of the areas of business I’m keen to understand more about. So if I go quiet in September that’s when my next assignment is due!

Holidays

June had 3 fun mini trips packed in over 2 weeks which included.

Part 1 — Yorkshire

Wedding Anniversary Llama trekking

Part 2 — Glastonbury

Glastonbury raving

Part 3 — Croatia

Spoke at Lean Agile Manchester

This sort of out sums up the journey I’ve been on with work over the last 3 months. I used the Tuckman Forming — Storming — Norming — Performing model to show what tools & techniques the team used to get to where we are today. It’s refreshing being able to be so open about our journey and hoping the honesty and real life scenarios helps others to realise that forming a team is hard work and is always a work in progress.

Passed my probation

Last bit of work news is I passed my probation, which is always a milestone as it makes you feel more officially part of the woodwork and a fully fledged member of the team.

Reading:

Brene Brown’s Dare to lead. I got about half-way through while on holiday and need to wrap up the remaining chapters. A fascinating insight on how being vulnerable is the key to better management and performing teams.
